Ok, with fuel prices projected to be over $3.50 per gallon average across the U.S. by spring, I would like to know some of your solutions to this growing problem. Be serious about your answers. And be creative. Just answering buy a hybrid or a more fuel efficient car is something my 7 year old son can answer. I'm looking for real solutions. Maybe we can all learn something from some of the responses. Thanks everybody. Please, no matter what your party affiliation, please vote. What are your opinions on the present fuel prices (apart from the fact that their so damn high), and what do u think will happen in the near future? or later within the next 20 years? will the fuel prices drop or keep on increasing? do u think there will be a breakthrough in technology and we won't need fuel anymore? any and all opinions

Why are fuel prices falling despite the massive spill in the Gulf?
Perhaps I do not fully understand how the markets work when it comes to major disasters in oil and the price at the pump, however, shouldn't fuel prices being going up instead of falling? Isn't there always some war, spill, or some other out there reason why fuel prices shoot up all at once? Now that we have billions of gallons leaking in the Gulf the price at the pump where I live has steadily dropped? Can someone please explain this? Thanks.

What is causing the dramatic fluctuations in our fuel prices?
I understand "supply and demand"-- but surely the US doesn't fluctuate that dramatically. Why were the fuel prices in January of this year, about $1.00 less than they are now? Is this just greed? What can be done about this? It irks me to see so many large "status symbol", "keepin' up with the Jones's" vehicles on the road, but honestly-- I cannot do anything about them. How do I calculate fuel prices?
For example, if the fuel price at the gas station is $1.50 a litre and I need to fill up a car that consumes 10L/100km, how much would I be paying and how do I calculate this? I am completely clueless on how gas prices work for a motorist so any help is appreciated! Thanks!
